I’ve gone back to that night a thousand times. cruel how selective the mind is erasing so much over time yet can grip tight to details of one night that changed me forever, and no matter how many times I recall it I cant right one wrong of it, or rewrite one bad line of it. like a sad song stuck in the recesses of my mind. and time isn’t always a friend, cause it just allows for space inside our imagination to play tricks on us, tryin to expand on how we could’ve been there to change even the most minute detail, whispering over and over "you should've been there."
But I can't rewind time, can't control life or flip the script on this dark chapter or climb up to God and beg Him to fix it. See these were the battles in the recesses of my mind.

Sometimes I find myself in a quandary when approaching the subject of grief and Christianity. some assume I wear a big FAT “C” on my chest as if to say I can HIDE behind the cross. so I tucked my loss in shame. holding back tears for fear I’d be rejected for not always celebrating his arrival into heaven. but I'm just flesh and bones friends. Yes a faith-filled believer but a mortal praying for eternal perspective. I don’t ask for your understanding; I just ask it be respected. One day you might need to meet MY eyes or a stranger that gets it. Look for the scars, the blatant markers of who we are. those who forged ahead, sometimes in half, but in faith. Knowing HE made it right for us already. This innate desire for hope within us, it's not a waste. We were born with a desire for home beyond this Earth, from ashes to ashes and dust He made me, I can say now God has re-raised me, remade me, took a whole riddled soul, whispered "LIVE" He saved me.

Are all the bad days erased and pain gone forever? lets say I bare a scar but I'm whole. You'll know eyes of others like me because the fire of grief grazed our soul. But the goodbyes are not forever. Until we see them may we grieve unjudged but together.
